Setup
- Players in pairs, partners facing each other about 4.5 m (15 ft) apart.
- One ball per pair, starting with the tosser.
- Pairs spread across the court with about 2 m (7 ft) between them.
How it runs
Partners stand about 4.5 m (15 ft) apart. One tosses an easy underhand ball, the other forearm passes it back to the tosser's chest so it can be caught without a step. After ten good passes the two swap jobs. Every pair on the court can run it at once with one ball each.
Time and reps: 2 sets of 15 passes each, swap tosser and passer every 10, 20 s rest.
Coaching points
- Keep your arms straight and tilt the platform toward your partner.
- Bend your knees and lift with your legs, keeping the arms still.
- Get your body behind the ball so you pass it from your midline.
- Face your partner before the ball arrives.
Ways to change it
- Step farther apart as passes get steady.
- Toss a little to the side so the passer has to move first.
- Count passes in a row and try to beat your best.
Make it easier or harder
Make it easier
- Stand closer together and let the passer catch the pass before the toss goes back.
Make it harder
- Move farther apart and play a pass-and-set rally with no catches.
