- One ball. Toss to start.
- Pass, set, pass, set, then catch and start again.
How it runs
One forearm pass, then one set, then a pass again, all straight up to yourself. The pass has to go high enough to get the hands up in time, and the set has to come down where the platform can meet it. It joins the two main ball-control skills into one rhythm.
Time and reps: 3 rounds of 1 minute, count the touches in a row, 30 s rest.
Coaching points
- Say it out loud: bump, set, bump, set.
- Pass it high enough to get your hands up.
- Hands back to the window right after the pass.
- Little steps to stay under the ball.
Ways to change it
- Easier: pass, catch, set, catch.
- Harder: shuffle along a line while you do it.
- Goal: 20 touches in a row.
Terms on this page
- Platform
- The flat surface your forearms make when you pass: arms straight, thumbs side by side, angled at the target.
- Setting window
- The triangle your thumbs and pointer fingers make above your forehead. You set the ball by pushing it up from there.
Safety at home
High balls belong outside: pick flat, open ground away from windows, cars and the street. Indoors, keep every ball low and gentle (ceilings are about 2.4 m, or 8 ft).
- Check the ground for holes, toys and sprinklers.
- Young kids need a grown-up close by.
