Setup
- Outside on flat ground, away from windows, cars and the street.
- One ball. Start with a toss.
- Low, high, low, high, then catch and start again.
How it runs
Outside, the player alternates a low set and a high set straight up: a little one just above the hands, then a big one about 2 m (7 ft) up. Changing the height on purpose teaches the player to control the ball with the legs and keep the wrists out of it.
Time and reps: 3 rounds of 1 minute, 30 s rest.
Coaching points
- Same window for both: only the push changes.
- Bend deeper and push longer for the high set.
- Get your feet under the high one before it comes down.
- Quiet hands: no slapping sound.
Ways to change it
- Easier: low, low, high, catch.
- Harder: add a quarter turn on each high set.
- Harder: clap once while the high set is in the air.

- Setting window
- The triangle your thumbs and pointer fingers make above your forehead. You set the ball by pushing it up from there.
Safety at home
High balls belong outside: pick flat, open ground away from windows, cars and the street. Indoors, keep every ball low and gentle (ceilings are about 2.4 m, or 8 ft).
- Check the ground for holes, toys and sprinklers.
- Young kids need a grown-up close by.
