Setup
- A solid wall or garage door with nothing breakable on it, with permission.
- Start about 1 m (3 ft) from the wall, then 1.5 m (5 ft), then 2 m (7 ft).
- Set the first ball out of your hands onto the wall, then set every rebound back.
How it runs
Setting against a garage door or a solid outside wall. The player starts close, sets the ball onto the wall again and again, and after a good streak takes a step back. Farther from the wall needs more push from the legs and the same quiet hands.
Time and reps: 3 steps back, 10 in a row at each, 20 s rest.
Coaching points
- Window above your forehead before the ball comes back.
- Push with your legs and arms together.
- Aim at the same spot on the wall every time.
- Step back only after a good streak.
Ways to change it
- Easier: set, catch the rebound, set again.
- Harder: one-hand sets, then switch hands.
- Goal: 100 wall sets in a day, in streaks.
Make it easier or harder
Make it easier
- Stay close to the wall and count sets in a row without stepping back.
Make it harder
- Take a bigger step back after each good streak, or add a clap between sets.
Terms on this page
- Setting window
- The triangle your thumbs and pointer fingers make above your forehead. You set the ball by pushing it up from there.
Safety at home
Use a solid outside wall or a garage door, with permission, and nothing breakable nearby: no windows, pictures or shelves. Not near a driveway in use.
- Check the wall can take a ball before you start.
- Stop if a finger hurts or swells.
