Setup

  1. A solid wall or garage door, with permission and nothing breakable nearby.
  2. Stand about 2 to 3 m (7 to 10 ft) from the wall with one ball.
  3. Toss to start, pass onto the wall above head height, pass every rebound.

How it runs

Forearm passing against a wall, about 2 m (7 ft) back. The player passes the ball up onto the wall, moves to the rebound and passes it again. The wall sends back whatever it is given, so a tilted platform or a swing shows up straight away.

Time and reps: 3 rounds of 1 minute, count the passes in a row, 30 s rest.

Coaching points

  • Arms like a table, tilted up toward the wall.
  • Feet get there first, then pass.
  • Lift with your legs and keep the arms still.
  • Aim at the same spot on the wall each time.

Ways to change it

  • Easier: pass, catch the rebound, pass again.
  • Harder: stand farther back, or pass, set off the wall, pass.
  • Goal: 20 to 30 in a row.

Platform
The flat surface your forearms make when you pass: arms straight, thumbs side by side, angled at the target.

Safety at home

Use a solid outside wall or a garage door, with permission, and nothing breakable nearby: no windows, pictures or shelves. Not near a driveway in use.

  • Check the wall can take a ball before you start.
  • Stop if a finger hurts or swells.
